SEO Game

When it comes to search engines, Google is the undisputed king, holding over 92% of the market share worldwide. However, there are other search engines like Bing that people use as well. So, how do you stay ahead of the SEO game?

Optimization of your website is important for search engines and that helps you increase visibility and traffic. But how do you choose the target search engine to optimize for? In this article, we will explore why optimizing a website for Google is more important than optimizing for Bing or other search engines.

Table of Contents

Search Engine Market Share

We all know where this section is headed. But, I couldn’t just put it out there without finding some data to back it up. According to statcounter, the Search Engine Market Share in the United States is dominated by Google at close to 90%.

Our thought is that if you optimize for Google, especially on your performance metrics, the other search engines should follow. But then again, I did title this article ‘How to Stay Ahead of the SEO Game in 2023.’

User Intent and EEAT

Google’s search system pays attention to what the user wants. It aims to deliver the most relevant and helpful results to the user based on their search query. Bing’s search algorithm is more keyword-focused, which means it may not accurately determine user intent. Optimizing your website for Google’s user-focused algorithm will ensure that your content is relevant and helpful to your audience, leading to higher engagement and conversion rates. Which brings us to EEAT.

EEAT means Experience, Expertise, Authority, and Trust. This is Google’s new way of determining if a website will meet the search engine user’s needs.

Mobile Optimization

Mobile optimization is essential for a website’s success in the modern world, with Google placing great importance on it. Google predominantly uses the mobile version of a site’s content, crawled with the smartphone agent, for indexing and ranking. This is called mobile-first indexing.. Bing doesn’t have a separate mobile-first index, so mobile optimization isn’t as important for Bing as it is for Google. Google Search Console can provide additional guidance in this area.

Google My Business

Google My Business is a free tool that allows you to manage your online presence on Google, including search and maps. Optimizing your Google My Business profile will increase your visibility and support potential customers in locating your business online. Bing has a similar tool called Bing Places for Business, but since Bing’s market share is much lower than Google’s, optimizing your Google My Business listing is more important.

SEO Game Summary

You can stay ahead of the SEO Game by optimizing with Google. Pay close attention to the technical foundation of your website first. Then, ensure that the content on your site reflects your expertise and authority in your business..
